Stacey Pogue Honored as Families USA’s Health Care Value Advocate of the Year
Washington, D.C., January 21, 2020 – Stacey Pogue, Senior Policy Analyst at the Center for Public Policy Priorities (CPPP) in Austin, Texas, has been recognized as Families USA’s Health Care Value Advocate of the Year. She will officially receive her award Friday, January 24 at an awards luncheon during the organization’s 2020 Health Action Conference in Washington, D.C.
Pogue was selected for her groundbreaking work advocating for better health care in Texas. At CPPP, she fights for the Affordable Care Act, private health insurance standards and women’s health. Lawmakers from both parties have hailed her research and advocacy that helped lead to the 2019 passage of one of the nation’s strongest protections against surprise medical billing. She has been selected twice to serve as a consumer representative to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
“Stacey has an exemplary track record as a leader for health care value,” said Frederick Isasi, Families USA executive director. “As one of Texas’ leading consumer advocacy voices on private health insurance and consumer protections, her work has helped underscore the need to lower health care costs and improve quality and outcomes for families.”
Each year during its Health Action Conference, Families USA honors the efforts of state and community leaders in advancing social justice through health care advocacy. Awards are presented in recognition of the organization’s four focus areas: Health Equity, Health Care Value, Coverage and Consumer Experience.
