Tim Jost Honored as Families USA’s Coverage Health Advocate of the Year
Washington, D.C., January 21, 2020 – Tim Stoltzfus Jost, J.D., an emeritus professor at Washington and Lee University School of Law, has been recognized as Families USA’s Coverage Health Advocate of the Year. He will officially receive his award Friday, January 24 at an awards luncheon during organization’s 2020 Health Action Conference in Washington, D.C.
Jost, a member of the National Academy of Medicine, was selected for his exemplary work using his health care law background to champion for better health care. “Health Law,” the casebook he coauthored, is used widely throughout the United States for teaching health law. He is often quoted in the media on health care reform issues and has written numerous articles on the topic for national organizations. A contributing editor on regulatory issues for Health Affairs, he blogged regularly for the publication until 2018.
“Tim has shared his impeccable health care law expertise through a variety of platforms— in the classroom and through his casebook, Health Affairs blog and media interviews,” said Frederick Isasi, Families USA executive director. “His work has helped raise the national visibility of health care reform issues and how they impact consumers.”
Each year during its Health Action Conference, Families USA honors the efforts of state and community leaders in advancing social justice through health care advocacy. Awards are presented in recognition of the organization’s four focus areas: Health Equity, Health Care Value, Coverage and Consumer Experience.
