Trump Breaks His Promise Again: Makes it Harder for Families to get Affordable Health Care
Washington, D.C. – The Trump Administration today finalized its first new Affordable Care Act (ACA) regulations, which it has billed as “Market Stabilization” rules, but which will actually undermine the stability of the marketplace. Specifically, the rule would increase deductibles, reduce financial assistance, cut the annual enrollment period in half, make it more difficult for people to enroll during “special enrollment periods,” narrow rules around grace periods, and weaken federal standards for network adequacy. “Thousands of people – a remarkable number – weighed in during the public comment period asking the Administration not to pursue this rule as written, but they were ignored. The Congressional Budget Office, industry analysts, and other independent experts also have told us that the market is stable and will remain so for the foreseeable future. But despite the pleas of consumers and the advice of experts, the Trump Administration is going full-steam ahead with its latest effort to try and sabotage the Affordable Care Act and is making health care less affordable, less accessible, and less meaningful for America’s families.”
