Rachel Klein is the Director of Organizational Strategy and Enrollment Program Director at Families USA, where she provides strategic policy direction on all of Families USA’s program areas and oversees the group’s work to maximize the number of uninsured people who gain high-quality, affordable health insurance under of the Affordable Care Act. Before taking on these roles, Ms. Klein was the Founding Executive Director of Enroll America, a nonpartisan, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that focuses entirely on ensuring that uninsured people who are eligible for new health coverage enroll in that coverage quickly and easily.
Prior to launching Enroll America in 2011, Ms. Klein was a Deputy Director of Health Policy at Families USA, where she had worked since 1998. Ms. Klein directed Families USA's work on Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), coordinated federal initiatives to strengthen and increase coverage for low-income people, and provided technical assistance to state health care advocates on a range of issues relating to Medicaid and CHIP.
Ms. Klein holds an M.A. in Public Policy from the George Washington University and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California at San Diego.
