Sara Lonardo
Sara Lonardo is Families USA’s Senior Director of Communications. In her role, she advances and promotes the organization’s policy initiatives to ensure families have access to affordable, high-quality health and health care. Lonardo previously served as Assistant Director of Communications for National Media at the Service Employees International Union. Her experience also includes nine years on Capitol Hill, serving as Communications Director for Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), and in multiple roles for the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee under then-Chairman Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) and the Education and Labor Committee under then-Chairman George Miller (D-CA). During her time on Capitol Hill, she was President of the Women’s Congressional Staff Association and currently serves as board chair of the Women’s Congressional Staff Foundation, which she co-founded. Lonardo holds a BA in Public Policy with a focus in welfare and poverty studies from Wheaton College in Norton, MA.
