Mary-Beth Malcarney
Mary-Beth is the Senior Advisor on Medicaid Policy. Prior to joining the Families USA team, she worked at the National Academies of Medicine, within the Board on Health Care Services, leading a project to advise the Social Security Administration on updating disability policies as they relate to the health of transgender and gender diverse people. Malcarney previously worked as an assistant research professor within the Department of Health Policy & Management at The George Washington University (GWU). In that capacity, she provided strategic advice and technical assistance to funders on a range of issues, including Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement policy; emerging payment and delivery system reforms; and the financing and delivery of home, school and other community-based chronic disease management and prevention programs. While at GWU, Malcarney served as Executive Director of the Childhood Asthma Leadership Coalition, a multi-sector coalition of organizations working to advance federal policy on asthma. She holds an MPH and a BS from Tufts University and a JD from The George Washington University School of Law.
