Addressing high and rising drug costs across the country is a key to ensuring high-quality, affordable health care and improved health for all. And it is an issue affecting millions of families regardless of what insurance they have or what state they live in. Federal solutions, such as the Inflation Reduction Act, are key to addressing these high costs, however states using their own levers to bring down cost is a key part of the puzzle.

Prescription drug affordability boards (PDAB) are one of the solutions being utilized by states to address high drug costs. Maryland was the first state in 2019 to pass a (PDAB), and since then eight states have joined, including Minnesota and New Jersey just this year. Families USA believes this is a strong solution states can implement. We worked with Embold Research to get a better understanding of drug affordability concerns in Pennsylvania and ensure this is a solution that the folks of Pennsylvania believe will address their high drug costs.
