Consumers across the United States are grappling with a health care system that is failing to meet their needs. Health care is expensive, inaccessible, and often low-quality, resulting in poorer health and health outcomes for consumers. This is the result of a health care system that focuses on a fee-for-service profit motive rather than truly making patients healthier. Through true payment reform, policy makers have an opportunity to transform our health care system into one that reins in out-of-control health care spending and helps consumers become their healthiest selves.
