How Illinois Can Make Health Insurance More Affordable
Increases in health care costs are negatively impacting individuals and small businesses in Illinois (and in other states) by making health insurance less affordable.
This paper, developed by Families USA and the Shriver Center on Poverty Law, outlines four best practices that are working in states across the country to make health insurance more affordable. These recommendations fall into two categories: increased statutory authority to consider affordability when setting rates and increased opportunities for consumers to engage in the rate review process. The result of implementing these best practices will be a more accurate and equitable pricing structure that will make insurance more affordable for consumers and small businesses.
