Families USA Support Letter for Cadillac Tax Repeal
07.16.2019
On July 15, Families USA sent this letter to Capitol Hill in support of H.R. 748, the Middle Class Health Benefits Tax Repeal Act of 2019, which will be considered by the full House of Representatives on July 17.
H.R. 748 is widely supported, bipartisan legislation that would repeal the excise tax on high value employer-sponsored health care coverage, also known as the “Cadillac Tax”. Though currently delayed until 2022, if enacted, this 40 percent excise tax would shift health care costs to employees and their families. At a time when almost half of our nation’s families report that they are forgoing needed medical care because they cannot afford it, policymakers should ensure that employers doing the right thing and providing high value health insurance to their employees are supported, not penalized.
We urge the House of Representatives to support working families and the employers providing these families high quality health insurance and pass H.R 748 when it comes to the floor
