Families USA Joins Public Citizen Amicus Brief to Defend Cost-Free Preventive Services

Families USA and other nonprofit organizations filed an amicus brief in the Supreme Court case Robert F Kennedy et al. v Braidwood Management, Inc., et al.

The Braidwood case challenges the Affordable Care Act’s requirement that health plans should provide preventive services free of cost-sharing. US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF), an expert body, rates preventive services, and plans must cover those with the highest ratings at no charge.

The brief explains that this guarantee of cost-free coverage for USPSTF’s recommended evidence-based services is lawful and critically important for public health.
