Senator Sanders Proposes Medicare for All
Plan Signals Important Moment in Debate over Achieving Universal Health Coverage
Washington, D.C. – The Medicare for All proposal released today by Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) would provide health care coverage for all individuals and families in America. Following is a statement on the bill from Frederick Isasi, executive director of Families USA:
“Universal coverage has always been at the core of Families USA’s mission and we are excited about the opportunities this bill presents to move us closer to that goal. We believe this important legislation will certainly lead to constructive conversations on how to build on the foundation of the Affordable Care Act and ultimately improve the health of families in America.
“As always, we are dedicated to working with policymakers in Congress and elsewhere who seek to improve the accessibility and affordability of health coverage and care so that everyone in America can achieve their optimal health.
“This is an important day in America’s ongoing health care debate and we are eager to see what comes next.”
