SCOTUS nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson will help guide the court with brilliance, fairness, justice

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Families USA Executive Director Frederick Isasi issued the following statement today on the news that President Joe Biden will nominate Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court:

“No one’s health should depend on their wealth and it certainly shouldn’t depend on who sits on the Supreme Court. Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson brings an unimpeachable record of accomplishment and a life dedicated to making our constitution work for everyone in America, regardless of where they are from, how much money they have, or the color of their skin.

“While no one should have to rely on a judge for access to health care that is sadly not our reality. We have seen clearly over the past 10 years how important the justices who sit on the Court are to the ability of people in America to obtain health care and live their healthiest life. Judge Jackson will bring her brilliance, constitutional expertise and a unique understanding of the lived experience of people in America to the Court through her decisions when issues critical to our health and well-being are inevitably on the docket again.

“As the gay son of immigrants, I know how important it is for our institutions to reflect the people they serve.
