New Clinton Proposal Protects Consumers from Huge Drug Company Price Increases
Today, Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton offered a proposal to combat unjustified price hikes of long-available drugs. The following is the statement of Ron Pollack, Executive Director of the consumer health organization Families USA Action, about the need for such corrective action:
“For the past few years, we have seen a number of piranha-drug companies – which have no involvement in the research and development of new therapies – jack up prices by 1,000 or more percent. While these outlandish price increases inappropriately inflate those companies’ profits, they are making life-saving medicines unaffordable.
“It is high-time that corrective action be taken, and we welcome Secretary Clinton’s proposals to ensure that these abusive pricing practices are brought to an end.”
