House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to Speak at Families USA’S 2019 Health Action Conference
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today Families USA announced that Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), will give opening remarks at its 2019 Health Action Conference. Speaker Pelosi will address attendees at 9:00 am on Thursday, Jan. 24 at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill.
Frederick Isasi, J.D., MPH, executive director of Families USA and a key author of the Affordable Care Act said, “Speaker Pelosi’s grit and determination to usher in health care reform in America is one of the defining hallmarks of our nation’s history —particularly in bringing to bear the landmark legislation that is the Affordable Care Act. Each time the legislation has been endangered, Speaker Pelosi has steeled herself to keep it in place to ensure millions of Americans have access to health care. We at Families regard her as one of the most strategic and critical leaders in the ongoing fight to improve and expand health care for all Americans, and are overjoyed she is joining us for Health Action 2019 as our opening speaker.”
Dubbed by some as the “mother of health care,” Rep. Pelosi was recently re-elected as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Families USA is a bipartisan public interest group that has been fighting for health care consumers since 1981. Its Health Action Conference, in its 24th year, is an annual national grassroots health care conference that gathers consumer health care activists, health care professionals, advocates, policymakers, policy experts, and media to confer on the nation’s health care agenda.
