Families USA Recognizes Health Advocate of the Year Award Winners
Washington, D.C., January 25, 2021 – Families USA has announced the winners of its Health Advocate of the Year awards.
The winners, selected for their exemplary work championing for better health and health care, are:
- Allison Neswood, Deputy Director of Strategic Priorities, Colorado Center on Law and Policy – Coverage Health Advocate of the Year
- Molly McCleery, Health Care Access Program Director, Nebraska Appleseed – Consumer Experience Health Advocate of the Year
- Dr. Joia Crear-Perry, President, National Birth Equity Collaborative – Health Equity Health Advocate of the Year
- Berneta L. Hayes, Senior Director of Policy and Access, Georgia Watch – Health Care Value Health Advocate of the Year
“Allison, Molly, Joia, and Berneta always consistently show up and make achieving better health and health care for all a priority,” said Lisa Hunter, senior director of partnerships at Families USA. “Despite the many challenges 2020 presented, their dedication to the health movement, collective activism, and leadership made a huge difference in helping families reach their optimal health.”
Each year during its Health Action Conference, Families USA honors state and community leaders who are advancing social justice through health care advocacy. Awards represent the organization’s four focus areas: Health Equity, Health Care Value, Coverage, and Consumer Experience.
