Families USA Founder Phil Villers, and Executive Director Frederick Isasi, Released the Following Joint Statement about Rob Restuccia’s Passing
A forever friend of the health care justice movement.
Washington, D.C. – “It is hard to express the sadness that I feel as Rob Restuccia — my friend and co-laborer in the fight for health care justice — has passed away. Our movement to make health care better for all Americans will mourn Rob’s voice and spirit, which always served to light the path ahead,” said Phil Villers, Families USA co-founder and president.
“Among a traditional lot of leaders, Rob stood in a very special, uncommon class. He was a leader of leaders,” Villers said.
Restuccia, who founded Health Care for All in the mid-80s, was, until his recent illness, executive director of Community Catalyst, a national health care advocacy organization.
“Rob’s openness, goodwill and kindness were tremendously endearing qualities to behold. We must remember the great leadership he modeled for us in the health care justice movement. He grew our sister organization, Community Catalyst, from a one-office shop in Boston to a nationwide organization. And his down-deep community roots, and honor of traditional grassroots organizing were refreshing and inspiring all at once,” said Frederick Isasi, Families USA executive director.
