Families USA appoints Naomi Fener Director of Population Health
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Naomi Fener has been appointed Director of Population Health at Families USA. This new role signals the organization’s focus on driving the health care movement to improve population health outcomes by addressing the social drivers of health, including both payment and delivery reform and health equity and systems transformation.
Fener, a nurse practitioner, has extensive experience using evidence-based policies to address the social drivers of health and provide effective solutions. She served on the White House Clinical Leaders in Health Equity and is an Advisor for nursing and underserved population strategy at Vot-ER. Before joining Families USA, she was MassHealth’s Senior Manager of Integrated Policy and Contracting. There, she optimized health-related social needs screening reporting requirements and developed relationships with hospitals, physicians and community-based organizations to collaborate on policy change to improve the health of people in the state who rely on Medicaid for their health care. She has a Master of Public Health in health policy from Harvard School of Public Health, a Master of Science in adult gerontologic-acute care from Vanderbilt University, a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Vermont.
“Naomi is an exceptionally skilled and thoughtful leader with an impressive clinical and health policy background,” said Frederick Isasi, Executive Director of Families USA. “Most importantly, she is dedicated to enhancing the well-being of underrepresented communities. Her expertise is vital to our work ensuring that the U.S. health care system improves people’s health and that all families can receive affordable, high quality and equitable health care.”
“I’m excited to join Families USA. I share the organization’s commitment to reducing the long-standing inequities that have caused disparities, especially in Black, brown, low-income and rural communities,” said Fener. “I’m looking forward to working with the team to implement strategies and policy recommendations that ensure the best health and health care are available to all families no matter where they live, where they’re from or how much money they make.”
