Advisory: Families USA Hosts Media Teleconference Thursday on the Problems Posed by the Continuous Coverage Provisions of the Republican ACA Replacement Proposal

Washington, D.C. – Families USA is hosting a teleconference at 11:30 a.m. (EDT), Thursday, March 16, to discuss the continuous coverage provisions of the House ACA repeal bill. The Congressional Budget Office report released yesterday estimates that after 2018, these provisions will lead to about 2 million fewer people having insurance and will discourage healthy people from getting covered. Participating in the call will be: Elizabeth Hagan, associate director of coverage initiatives for Families USA; Stephanie Glover, senior health policy analyst for the National Partnership for Women and Families; and Kim Hall Jackson, of the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship, a colon cancer survivor. The goal of these teleconferences is to explain in layman’s terms the impact of repealing the ACA, and the various replacement proposals currently being discussed, to journalists who may be unfamiliar with these ideas and how they could affect their readership or audiences. These calls are being sponsored by the Protect Our Care Coalition. Different organizations within the coalition will be hosting and participating in these teleconferences. The final teleconference also marks the 7th Anniversary of the Affordable Care Act.
