Health Literacy Resources

  • Coverage to Care
This campaign from CMS includes a variety of resources to help consumers with topics such as understanding their health coverage, picking a provider and making an appointment. (CMS)

Training

  • New York State of Health Navigator Training Resources
Presentations and videos assisters can watch to learn the most efficient methods of interacting with consumers.   Designed for assisters in New York State, but the knowledge is applicable to all states. (New York State of Health)
  • Training Programs and Enrollment Resources
The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has made available the materials used in the federal Navigator and Certified Application Counselor (CAC) training and certification programs, as well as presentations that provide an overview of the marketplace and resources to help consumers. (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Health Resources and Services Administration)
  • Training Program for District of Columbia Medicaid Eligibility Workers
Families USA developed a training program for District of Columbia Medicaid eligibility workers under contract with DC Health Link, the District of Columbia’s Health Benefits Exchange. These workers determine eligibility for Medicaid and other benefit programs (including SNAP and TANF), and will help consumers apply for coverage and financial assistance, report changes, renew coverage, and verify the information that is needed to determine eligibility. These training materials are posted here as an example that we hope you can adapt for other training programs. (Families USA)
