Families USA Welcomes Leading Safety Net Lobbyist Jennifer Taylor as Senior Director of Federal Relations
Washington, D.C., May 26, 2020 – Jennifer Taylor has been appointed Senior Director of Federal Relations at Families USA.
Taylor joins Families USA after serving as Director of Federal Affairs at the distinguished National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), where she led vision and strategy for advancing the organization’s federal policy agenda. As their lead lobbyist, she is well known by key Congressional members and staff on both sides of the aisle and focused much of her work on building the capacity of community health centers to provide high quality, cost-effective, comprehensive care to more than 29 million low income and vulnerable patients nationwide.
In her new role at Families USA, Taylor will be a key member of the senior leadership team and will be responsible for developing and implementing the organization’s legislative and regulatory agenda focused on ensuring every family in America can achieve their optimal health.
Prior to her time at NACHC, Taylor spent over six years working on Capitol Hill providing legislative and policy analysis support for Congresswomen Chellie Pingree and Lois Capps. In Rep. Pingree’s office, she managed a diverse legislative portfolio with a primary focus on health and human services policy—including the Affordable Care Act. As a Women’s Research and Education Institute Congressional Fellow for Rep. Capps’ office, she provided policy analysis and legislative support on health care and women’s issues— including staff support for Energy and Commerce Committee.
Her background also includes serving as a Program and Public Policy Manager for the Perinatal Advisory Council and a Session Manager for Share Ourselves Free Medical and Dental Clinic. She holds a master’s degree in public health and a certificate in population and reproductive health from the University of California, Los Angeles; and bachelor’s degrees in biological sciences and psychology and social behavior from the University of California, Irvine.
“We are thrilled to have Jen join our leadership team. She is a mission-driven and savvy federal relations and health policy strategist that knows how to cultivate relationships with bipartisan federal policymakers and stakeholder partners,” said Frederick Isasi, Executive Director at Families USA. “She will be able to engage and build consensus with Congressional leaders—especially right now as we work to get policies passed that will help families maintain their health and financial security during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
“I am excited to join the Families USA team, and to work together with our partners in Washington, D.C. and around the country to make meaningful progress toward our shared vision of access to the best, most affordable health and health care system for all,” said Taylor. “This global crisis lays bare the many ways in which our current systems continue to leave many of our friends, family members, and neighbors behind. It also highlights the reality that we are all in this together, and unless every person and family in this country has access to health and health care, none of us really do.”
