Amicus filed in Doe v Trump, challenging Trump’s Immigration Proclamation

02.20.2020

Doe v. Trump challenges President Trump’s immigration proclamation, which would bar the entry of immigrants to the United States unless they demonstrate that they have an “approved” form of health insurance coverage or the financial resources to pay for foreseeable health care costs. The proclamation specifies that neither health insurance purchased through the marketplace with premium tax credits nor Medicaid for adults are “approved” plans. Families USA is among the amici curiae opposing the immigration proclamation: It is counter to the laws passed by Congress, which expressly grant lawful immigrants the right to subsidized coverage. The case is before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Click the download button below to view the Amicus Brief.
