Families USA joins Public Citizen Amicus Brief to Defend Important Health Care Protections
06.28.2023
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has transformed the American health care system by expanding coverage, lowering costs, and improving access to care. The Braidwood Management Inc. v. Becerra case is the newest politically motivated case brought against the ACA and it challenges the zero-cost-sharing guarantee for preventive services. The existing provisions in the ACA are overwhelming popular and ensures families have access to critical, life-saving preventive care services.
In order to defend this important provision in the ACA, Families USA has joined an amicus brief with Public Citizen, American Lung Association, Academy Health, Adult Vaccine Access Coalition, American Heart Association, Campaign For Tobacco-Free Kids, Families USA, Go2 For Lung Cancer, Lungevity Foundation, Parents Against Vaping E-Cigarettes, Public Citizen, Public Health Law Center, and Truth Initiative Foundation.
The case is currently being considered in the Fifth Circuit of Appeals.
