Consumers First Letter to 118th Congress

01.23.2023

Consumers First, an alliance that brings together the interests of consumers, employers, labor unions, and primary care clinicians working to realign and improve the fundamental economic incentives and design of the health care system, sent this letter to leaders of the 118th Congress urging them to take decisive action this year to further investigate and meaningfully address key drivers of out-of-control health care costs, and to advance well-vetted, bipartisan, and commonsense legislation that would remedy some of the most obvious health system failings.

Particular solutions that the letter calls out include increasing price transparency, cracking down on anti-competitive behavior, and implementing site-neutral payments across delivery systems.

The letter is signed by Consumers First’s Steering Committee – American Academy of Family Physicians, American Benefits Council, American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees, American Federation of Teachers, Families USA, and the Purchaser Business Group on Health – in addition to over 30 other leading health care consumer, labor, employer, and clinician groups.
