Senator McCain’s Announcement Should Prompt Other Members to Oppose Graham-Cassidy

Washington, D.C. – Families USA applauds Sen. John McCain for acting in good conscience and showing concern for the lives the Graham-Cassidy plan would put at risk if it were to become law. Following is the statement of Executive Director Frederick Isasi:

“Other members of Congress should follow Senator McCain’s example and come out publicly against the Graham-Cassidy plan. As McCain said, too many lives are at risk.

“But despite McCain’s announcement, advocates and consumers are not going to rest easy and will hold events across the nation this weekend to drive home to their elected officials how dangerous and destructive this repeal bill would be for America’s families. We urge lawmakers to take these well-deserved fears to heart and work together to craft bipartisan improvements to the current law.”
