Children’s Health Insurance Program

The Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is currently authorized through 2019, but funding expires September 30, 2017. Legislative action will be needed to extend federal funding past that date. Because federal CHIP funding remains uncertain beyond September 30, states are now facing critical decision points.
