Children’s Health Insurance Program

The Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is currently authorized through 2019, but funding expired September 30, 2017. In early November, the House passed a bill that would fund CHIP, but at the expense of other critical health programs.

Now, all eyes are on the Senate. We are calling on the Senate to pass a bipartisan, clean 5-year extension of the CHIP program as soon as possible. Without congressional action, states will need to start making tough decisions about their CHIP programs. The health care of 9 million children is at stake.
