Using Volunteers in Navigator and Assister Programs: Doing More with Less

During open enrollment periods, volunteers can help navigators and assisters cope with the influx of consumers seeking information. Other volunteers can assist in multiple ways, from helping at events to setting up appointments.

Our issue brief (PDF) explains:

  • The training required for volunteers to conduct enrollment
  • Ideas for using volunteers who do not undergo training
  • How state navigator programs successfully used volunteers during the first open enrollment period
