The Medicaid Upgrade: Required and Optional Medicaid Eligibility Changes for 2014
In 2014, states will start using a new, simpler standard for determining who can get Medicaid. This new standard, which is based on modified adjusted gross income (MAGI), will be used for most people under age 65. States must change the eligibility process for these individuals, and states can choose to pursue additional changes to make the process even more consumer-friendly and streamlined.
For all other applicants, states will continue to use the existing process to decide who can get Medicaid. But even for these individuals, states can improve the process.
