How Is Medicaid Expansion Viewed in the Deep South?

This infographic shows that people of all races, ages, and political ideologies across five states in the Deep South favor expanding Medicaid. Overall, 62.3 percent of residents in five states in the Deep South favor Medicaid expansions.

The Supreme Court's 2012 decision upholding the Affordable Care Act changed the Medicaid expansion from a requirement of the law to an option for states. States can still get federal funding to cover the full costs of expanding Medicaid to more residents.

Advocates and journalists can use this infographic to support their claim that many people favor expanding Medicaid, including most people in the Deep South.
