DIGITAL ORGANIZING INTERN

Families USA is looking for a full-time Intern to start immediately with campaign or organizing background experience to support the Strategic Partnerships team in expanding the range of partners Families USA engages in efforts to ensure the best health and health care are equally accessible and affordable to all in our nation. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience in multiple areas of advocacy and organizing.
Our ideal candidate will:
- Assist with online advocacy – including helping to develop digital organizing strategies and advocacy materials. o Draft email correspondence and campaign materials for a variety of audiences.
- Research, track and support the work with state-based and national advocates.
- Assist with maintaining the database for grassroots contacts and other partners.
- Assist with webinars and/or online-media hosting.
A true passion and a deep commitment to social justice issues with a background in grassroots advocacy, political organizing or other related fields. Must be able to prioritize work under tight deadlines. Strong background in digital organizing with knowledge of various email/advocacy platforms, e.g. Action Network and New Mode. Solid research, writing and editing skills, with the ability to think creatively. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
OUR WORK ENVIRONMENT
Interns are paid $14.00 per hour, normally work 40 hours per week, and must commit to working through June 2020. Interns at Families USA are considered and treated as integral members of the staff who have substantive roles to play in achieving the best health and health care for everyone in the country. Families USA considers its internship program an important opportunity to develop the next generation of health justice leaders. Internships are structured to facilitate professional development, with interns working with their supervisor and a mentor on developing and achieving goals, including taking advantage of the learning opportunities in our nation’s capital.
