Thank You for a Great Health Action 2013!
Last week, hundreds of state and national advocates gathered for Families USA’s annual Health Action conference in Washington, DC. For three days, advocates attended a variety of workshops and plenary sessions that covered everything from the Medicaid expansion to the federal budget, and many topics in between.
Families USA also honored three consumer health advocates: Dede de Percin from Colorado Consumer Health Initiative, Liz Doyle from TakeAction Minnesota, and Jennifer Ng’andu from National Council of La Raza. As Phil Villers, president of Families USA, said, “the only thing that is difficult is to pick three heroes amongst the larger group who have made spectacular advances in health care reform after a century of trying.” Both Dede and Liz were celebrated for their activism in their respective states, and Jennifer was honored for her work to improve health equity. All three awardees have achieved great advancements in the health reform movement, and their hard work and commitment to health care is truly exceptional.
While we honor our three Consumer Health Advocates of the Year, a big thank you must also go to all our advocates and partners who helped make Health Action 2013 possible. We couldn’t do it without you!

Hope to see you next year, January 23 – 25, for #HA2014!
