Emerging Professionals at Health Action 2016

Abby Bott

Business Manager & Board Liaison

There are lots of professional networking groups out there for young people, but Families USA’s Emerging Professionals group centers specifically on the health policy and advocacy fields and doesn’t define its membership based on age. Instead, the group exists to unite those starting out in their careers, provide a space for collaboration and career advice, and support one another in their health advocacy efforts. In less than a year, the group has grown from 50 to 350 members.

Health Action 2016 offers important networking opportunity

Emerging professionals should make plans now to attend our 21st annual Health Action conference this February 4-6, in Washington, D.C. This is an important event for young health policy wonks and advocates to meet and network with peers from around the country. If you haven’t already registered for this premier conference, use these tips to convince your boss to send you to Health Action.

Our Emerging Professionals group is conducting a skills-building workshop called Emerging Professionals: Building from the Ground Up, which will feature speakers from Young Invincibles, the Ninjas for Health, and Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers. We’re also hosting an exclusive networking reception for emerging professionals.

Ongoing activities

In addition to our well-loved conference, the Emerging Professionals group’s activities include:

At Families USA, we’re very excited to provide these opportunities and resources for the future leaders of health care and health policy. And don’t miss out on the next issue of the Emerging Professionals Digest out on the last Wednesday of each month.
